On September 27, 2024, the Swannanoa river, triggered by Hurricane Helene, was inundated with a water causing a flash flood that reached as high as 26 feet in some areas. Roads, homes and entire towns were swept away. While residents knew to expect some flooding, no one could have predicted the devastation that ensued.
Because the area is so far from the danger of a hurricane, most residents were simply going about their daily lives. They were given little to no warning when the waters turned from a generic flood to a life-threatening torrent. At this time, thousands of people are missing and presumed dead, with their remains buried in silt, sand and mud. In all likelihood, this event will end up being the most deadly natural disaster on US soil.
This auction will feature 3D printed bath bomb molds from various mold makers. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Samaritans Purse. From our discussions with people who are in the area and who have been affected by this tragedy, the Samaritans Purse has been the most responsive and generous of all the relief workers. Once the totals are ready we will post the final amount raised so you can see how powerful a small donation can be when we all work together.
